Sydney is already Australia’s largest city, with a growth rate that’s not looking to slow down anytime soon. In fact Sydney grew by some 1600 people each week in the 2014-15 financial year. Which of course, means more housing growth. As inner city suburbs are bulging, the highest growth rate recorded in the inner city precinct of Waterloo-Beaconsfield, Sydney’s north- and south-western corridors are booming with development, and quickly becoming more sought after areas to live in.

Young families and even professionals are looking for a better lifestyle outside of the inner city fringe, where space, nature and local community are in abundance. With property prices relentlessly rising, and the city’s immense growth, business, both private and government is quickly moving outside of the CBD to the more cost-effective and convenient centres of Parramatta and Macquarie Park. For many workers this is a huge positive, as they enjoy a shorter commute to work each day, and can afford a better lifestyle and dream home.

At Toast Creative, we have recently completed a project with property developer Gold Abacus on an upmarket address in Rouse Hill, North Western Sydney. Situated with direct transport connections to main commercial centres, local shopping districts and surrounded by nature, we focused on the key draw cards to the area - space, nature and modern architecture.

As with any vibrant community, a rich history and local focus is important. For this, Toast drew on the history of the local area to develop an elegant private residence that is connected to the local region. As our cities rapidly expand, history has shown that cold, heartless housing estates without community, culture and natural beauty don’t promote growth, or a lively, sought after home for families and individuals alike. This is why it is important for us to work with property developers, government agencies and real estates to develop and promote future regions of growth that locals want to call home. These are places where neighbours say hello down the hall, yet privacy is not disregarded. Places from where the work commute is stress free, and parks, nature reserves and communities flow seamlessly. It is these new places we are designing, to help grow a better Sydney for the future, not one that is crowded, disconnected and one-size-fits-all.
