As a designer I’m always on the look out for inspiration and something to catch my eye and one source I always refer back to is Monster Children Magazine. From their photographic prowess and edgy editorial style I’ve always admired the design and believe there isn’t a magazine like it. Covering all aspects of skateboarding, surfing, photography, film, art, street and pop culture, it hits the mark with the crew at Toast and now it’s time to celebrate 10 years of Monster Children with a big, thick, heavy, hard covered book looking over the history of the mag.
Interviews with Adidas skate legend Mark Gonzales, surf champ Steph Gilmore are just the tip of the ice berg with the amount of content, the usual NSFW Page 33 section and history the founders Chris and Campbell has brought up from an anonymous magazine paid with a small credit card to what it is now. I do recommend forking out the money for the book or if not at least check out their newly designed website and also their 2013 photo competition is almost wrapping up where, yours truly, was picked as one of the finalist!
